Dashboard visualizing craft breweries in the U.S.
This dashboard was created to submit for the monthly Storytelling with Data Challenge to demonstrate there’s often more to data than meets the eye. To explore this challenge, I wanted to look at the rise in craft breweries in the U.S. over the last decade using data from the Brewers Association craft beer sales data. For the main visualization I chose to sort these into regions of the country in a stacked in the area chart from most craft breweries in 2019 to least – in the Tableau dashboard you can hover over each line and see the data for that state for a given year. I then built a choropleth map to show the number of craft breweries in each state, with darker colors indicating more breweries. Finally, I wanted to visualize the number of breweries per 100,000 residents of drinking age, shown in the bubble chart.
